H.U.G

I love hugs! This Sunday, the priest during his homily gave another meaning to this wonderful word.

Heaven's
Unending
Goodness

Love it! A hug is an embrace shared by people who care for and love each other. It only seems appropriate that HUG can also be an acronym for Heaven's Unending Goodness. The people we love are proof of that. A hug and HUG can definitely make the world a better place.

Thankful Tuesday

So apparently I can't do this on Sundays. I probably won't be able to keep this up, either. It's a bit time consuming, but I think taking the time to reflect upon your week to see where God touched your life is important and this is easier than writing in a notebook (writing a lot makes my right wrist hurt).

Things we're thankful for:
  • Grandpa Bart is being discharged from the hospital today. Yay!
  • Trevor made it home safe with his luggage from a work trip.
  • We live walking distance from a church/community we enjoy.
  • The grandmas and grandpas I care for at work. I love caring for them! There's much to learn from them!

Mardi Gras

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. A time to reflect on our lives. Trevor made a great observation. Lent is like making New Year's resolutions. It really is. You are resolving to make changes in your life that are keeping you from growing closer to Christ.
While Lent is 40 days, the point is to carry the changes throughout the rest of the year and your life. The 40 days is to help you break those habits.

Rather than 'indulging' today, and repenting tomorrow I decided to start my Lenten plan today:

1. Limiting my television to 2 hours/day. - I didn't completely take it away, because Trevor and I like to spend time together watching 30 Rock, The Office, and Mythbusters. This will pretty much take away the time wasting television during my days off that keeps me from doing what I need to do around the house.
2. Pray the rosary, every day I'm off and saying a shorter prayer on my work days.

I'm hoping by making my intentions public, that I will actually follow through.

Happy Mardi Gras!

Blessings Sunday

With Lent rapidly approaching I decided that every Sunday I wanted to count my blessings...hence Blessings Sunday. Alas, I realize it's Tuesday but we arrived back to Flagstaff late on Sunday night and I worked yesterday. So I gave myself a grace period this week. Without further ado...

We are blessed because...
  • We live 3 hours away from friends and family.
  • We have a loving kitty who misses us dearly when we leave her, even if it is just to run errands.
  • I only work 3 days a week (granted it is 12-13 hours/day) and can work on projects around the house the other days, which is helpful considering our goals for this year. Ex: Our recently cleaned and organized pantry.
  • God has a plan for our lives. Though life doesn't always go as we plan, life goes according to God's plan. Somethings in life are not in our control and that's okay! Ex: Miscarriage earlier this year.
